Mahatma Gandhi Central University is a public university located at Motihari, Bihar (India). The university administration is answerable to the Central Government of India. 

MGCU students started protest on 2 June 2018 demanding fulfilment of their various demands against university administration. Students accused VC of arbitrariness, students said that the assurances given to them after their protests on 11 November 2017 were not completed.

On 13 June 2018,  The protesting students closed the university main gate, shouted slogans against the university administration and demanded the fulfilment of  their eight-point demands.  The protesting students accused the Vice-Chancellor of violating democratic values ​​and said that the entire campus has been agitating  for the last two weeks for which one and only Vice-Chancellor is responsible.  The protesting students demanded complete withdrawal of 200 percent hike in fees at the interval of a single session, paying health insurance amount to the dependents of a deceased student Bhaskar Chandra Tiwari, of physics,  making proper arrangements for scholarships for  SC, ST, OBC and Handicapped  students, follow the reservation roster in admission, issuance of marksheet of all semesters should be issued before the commencement of the new semester and setting up a police post at university campus in order to ensure the safety of students. The protesting students also accused the VC of  treating them to rusticate from university and forcing to implicit professors in false cases of  molestation.

MGCU studnets protest in support of their demands created ruckus on 17 July 2018.  The officer on special Duty administration (Registrar) Ashutosh administration was held hostage by the students. The protesting students was so enraged that they got entangled with the police team who arrived at the notice of the ruckus.  A police officer was  making a video of the student.  Later, he also spoke to the city police station officer Anand Kumar.  OSD remained with the students till late evening.  The students said that anti social elements come at university campus and misbehave with the students. There have been many incidents whose video clips can be investigated.  The students alleged that the fee has been increased drastically.  Students have not received the identity card.  The situation was chaotic. Students alleged that police entered the university premises without permission

The university adminstration decided to expel four students namely Rohit Mishra, Aman Kumar Singh, Anoop Kumar Suraj and Amit Vikram who were leading the protest on 19 July 2018. Students held VC (Arvind Agarwal) hostage for 8 hours after the VC rejected their demands to meet them and resolve their issues. The students termed the charges as fabricated and demanded the VC to redress their grievances which were quickly turned down. The professors also slept outside Vice-Chancellor office. The DSP & SDM, Motihari rescued the Vice-Chancellor at mid night after VC agreed to fulfill the demands of students.

There held a meeting between university administration and students on 21 & 22 July 2018 to resolve the problems of students. Vice-Chancellor (Arvind Agrawal) chaired the meeting . Rohit Mishra (supreme student leader of students) represented students  in the meeting and students representative from various departments namely Aman Kumar Singh, Anoop Kumar Suraj, Amit Vikram, Kishan Srivastava, Akanksha, Nitesh Kumar, Shweta Rani, Saurabh Kumar and Ravi Kumar Patel were present there to discuss over problems of students.

A joint press conference held by the students, professors and university administration in the university campus on 23 July 2018 in the evening. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Arvind Agarwal said that we are working towards to resolve the problems of students and students' problems will be resolved in a positive way.
Rohit Mishra said that we have called of our protest with the condition that the students' demands will be resolved sympathetically. He further explained that the students have put many demands before the university adminstration including the fee being charged for the such services which were not available by university. The university assured to work towards resolving the problems of students.

MGCU ABVP Unit submitted a memorandum to the MGCU Vice-Chancellor Prof Sanjeev Kumar Sharma demanded to honor their 5 points demands. The organisation mailed the V-C and put their demands through a memorandum. Motihari (Bihar): With his round eye-glasses, fringe covering his forehead Rohit Mishra the Supreme Leader of Mahatma Gandhi Central University was born on 21st August 1998 in a middle class Brahman family at Motihari. He became involvement in protests against fee hikes, library funding cuts, hostel shortages, increased electricity and water charges and dress and time restrictions on university students. Following the introduction of new fee structure in 2017, MGCU became the one of the most expensive public university of India. He held the view that public university should not be act like private or for - profit institutions. He started the protest for complete withdrawal of increment in fee for new academic year. As there is no official student union in university, he became the supreme leader of students by  leading all the protests against university adminis
